Painting Your Front Door with SW Oceantide 6496!

When we built our house the builder special color for the front door was a boring very light neutral color. Yes it was safe and it looked fine with out brick house but problem was both The Big Guy [aka Husband] and I both love color. I mean COLOR! We painted every room of our house before we even moved in. No, we aren’t crazy but wanted it our way.

So in the beginning we painted the front door a dark burgundy, Wow it was pretty and it stayed that color for a few years but eventually we tired of it and decided to change it out again. This time the color was Asparagus [bold green] & whenever we met someone new in the neighborhood we would say ‘we’re in the house with the green door, you can’t miss it’.  But after a few years we decided it was time for a change. We would travel to the box stores and just look at paint samples waiting for one to jump out at us.

We knew it would be blue but couldn’t find the right blue. Until my Sherwin-Williams edition of Stir came in the mail a few weeks ago. I opened it up to page 15 & there it was “Oceanside, Sherwin-Williams 2018 Color of the Year”. The large photo was of kitchen – beautiful & bold, just the color we were looking for! I chased The Big Guy down to show him the photo. “I think I found the color”, I was so excited. He really liked it [or was just tired of looking lol] & off we went to buy the gallon of paint. I would like to say I helped sand and paint the door but I can’t. I was out on a home staging project. By the time I got home that evening, the door had been sanded, painted, numbers updated to silver and the door was hung. It is gorgeous and even though we have a storm door, the color pops through! What do you think?
